"Read Only" issue on network
I've seen several posts and workarounds, but my issue is pretty simple (if annoying). Network folders are all marked "Read only" from Windows 7.
Please note:
1. I am an Administrator.
2. I have tried changing security and ownership rights.
3. I have turned off the UAC.
4. I have turned off the Firewall.
5. I have attempted to force off read only attributes through the CMD line "attrib -r -s [path]. From Windows 7, this results in an Access Denied message. When done from another machine, no help here.
6. I have run the virtual XP machine within Windows 7 - no problem with access here.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi,
Have you given access to the entire C drive (root)?
Right click C:drive->Propertise->under Sharing tab, click Share..., click to open "Advanced Sharing", in the permission section, please make sure it is not "Read-only".
Good luck. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Are you seriously advocating sharing the root of the C: drive? Crazy!

All versions of Windows since way back in Windows 2000 have shown all folders as Read Only. This is a bug/feature in Windows Explorer.

It is unlikely that this is the cause of your problem. You can normally ignore the fact that Windows Explorer shows folders as having the Read Only attribute. It is far more likely that the problem is related to permissions on the share or the folder.

Right click the programs executable > click Properties >
“Compatibility”
tab > under “Compatibility Mode”
check the Run this application in compatibility mode for:
box > click in the list box and choose a suitable version of Windows
Certain applications might encounter problems with the new User Account Control security component in Windows 7 because the application
was designed to run with Administrative privileges. Since it is still giving you the error about needing administrative privilege, you can try a work around by right clicking the applications executable and click
“Run as Administrator
” on the context menu.
